"Defination of LOVE"

My love is of a birth as rare
As 'tis for object strange and high;
It was begotten by Despair
Upon Impossibility.
Magnanimous Despair alone
Could show me so divine a thing
Where feeble Hope could ne'er have flown,
But vainly flapp'd its tinsel wing.
And yet I quickly might arrive
Where my extended soul is fixt,
But Fate does iron wedges drive,
And always crowds itself betwixt.
For Fate with jealous eye does see
Two perfect loves, nor lets them close;
Their union would her ruin be,
And her tyrannic pow'r depose.
And therefore her decrees of steel
Us as the distant poles have plac'd,
(Though love's whole world on us doth wheel)
Not by themselves to be embrac'd;
Unless the giddy heaven fall,
And earth some new convulsion tear;
And, us to join, the world should all
Be cramp'd into a planisphere.
As lines, so loves oblique may well
Themselves in every angle great;
But ours so truly parellel,
Though infinite, can never meet.
Therefore the love which us doth bind,
But Fate so enviously debars,
Is the conjunction of the mind,
And opposition of the stars.

"A ROSE"

A sepal, petal, and a thorn
Upon a common summer's morn,
A flash of dew, a bee or two,
A breeze
A caper in the trees,--
And I 'm a rose!

"I knew a Woman"

I knew a woman, lovely in her bones,
When small birds sighed, she would sigh back at them;
Ah, when she moved, she moved more ways than one:
The shapes a bright container can contain!
Of her choice virtues only gods could speak,
Or English poets who grew up on Greek
(I'd have them sing in chorus, cheek to cheek).

How well her wishes went! She stroked my chin,
She taught me Turn, and Counter-turn, and Stand,
She taught me Touch, that undulant white skin;
I nibbled meekly from her proffered hand;
She was the sickle; I, poor I, the rake,
Coming behind her for her pretty sake
(But what prodigious mowing we did make).

Love likes a gander, and adores a goose:
Her full lips pursed, the errant note to seize;
She played it quick, she played it light and loose;
My eyes, they dazzled at her flowing knees;
Her several parts could keep a pure repose,
Or one hip quiver with a mobile nose
(She moved in circles, and those circles moved).

Let seed be grass, and grass turn into hay;
I'm martyr to a motion not my own;
What's freedom for? To know eternity.
I swear she cast a shadow white as stone.
But who would count eternity in days?
These old bones live to learn her wanton ways:
(I measure time by how a body sways).

"An Exercise in Sadness"

Steichen's roses have faces in them
I've seen on a few sad occasions.
Occasions for sadness can be found
anywhere. Now I'm aware in this
intuitive way of the absence at my
back. How do I explain it? I lie
in bed, alone. I turn over to my side.
No hand moves between my shoulders.
No lap molds itself to the elbow
of my knees. The smell of me,
me alone, rises warmly from
under the covers. I toss and turn.
I turn wearily towards the lack of you,
hold still as if to hold you still.

"At the First Sight"

'Love at first sight,' some say, misnaming
Discovery of twinned helplessness
Against the huge tug of procreation.

But friendship at first sight? This also
Catches fiercely at the surprised heart
So that the cheek blanches and then blushes.

"Falling in Love"

(This poem is for that person whom I never seen but I love her as I really liked the way she treats me)

The nights seem colder,
The days seem slower,
The sun seems brighter,
I'm falling in love.

I need you here,
I need your touch,
I need you beside me,
I'm falling in love.

You are scared,
You are confused,
You're afraid to fall,
But you're falling in love.

You can't run,
You can't hide,
You can't escape it,
You're falling in love.

We want to be together,
We want each other,
We want to be cared for,
We're falling in love.

We're learning to love,
We're learning to share,
We're learning to care,
We're falling in love.

That's all I can say,
That's all I can write,
That's all I can think about,
I'm falling in love.

It's all gonna work out,
It'll all be fine,
It's gonna take time,
I'm falling in love,
And I'm falling in love with you.

"LOVE"

Love is in your smile,
and in every word you say,
Love’s in everything you do,
and in every game you play.

Love occupies your thoughts,
even while you sleep,
Love’s in everyone you know,
and whomever’s heart you keep.

Love it knows no limits,
it’s infinite within your soul,
Love’s in all the poems we write,
it’s even in rock and roll.

Love sings a song of passion,
and brings warmth to your heart,
Love is magic when you’re together
and keeps you going when you’re apart.

"Hopeless Hopes"

Forever knows not what tomorrow will bring,
I’m stranded in my cave of thoughts for you,
All I can do is sit and sing,
Lonely love songs that speak so true,
The object of my desires has no knowledge of my dreams,
I’m sure she has her own dreams which are not dreamed of me,
My hopes which lay within her are hopeless so it seems,
A mutual friendship may be all there’ll ever be,
I wish that I could tell her but I don’t think she’d understand,
I fear rejection of my feelings, though I wish for just one chance,
I long to be within her arms or to at least just kiss her hand,
A moonlit walk along the beach or just one long slow dance,
I guess she’ll never know how much I dreamed of her,
Her who’s beauty shines brighter than stars at night,
But I’ll never stop wishing that we were together,
In these dreams of hopeless hopes which make me write.

"Eyes"

Every time I close my eyes,
It comes to me as no surprise,
It is always you I see,
Your gentle arms embracing me,
And with the dawn of each new day,
You become more perfect in every way,
As the moonlight shines upon your face,
I see your true beauty, passion, and grace,
For that is where my undying love lies,
Within your chest, behind luscious eyes.

"Lonely"

I can hear you talking
your voices carry on to me
and yet it's really only echo's
of long ago
when you noticed me

I have done so many things
that you should be proud of
but I don't think you ever acknowledged them
or their meaning

So now I shall dwell in my world
where only escape
will rest me
here...

"Part of Me"

Sometimes someone will reach me
and can touch the inner depths of my soul
where they probe and examine
the feeling is a comfort
and for a fleeting moment
I am set free of life's trials and turbulations
from god foresaken places
pooling in that dark place
at the back of my mind
kept hidden even from myself at times
such as now with all the people suffering
today and shouting, wallowing
in all their surpressed memory
like a flame is to fire
my soul and heart are one
like the other in which
my minds body portrays to me
I know what it is like to feel
and I do when someone dies
or when something happens
that jarrs at my emotions
I let them go regardless of
some words that it is not safe in this world
to have sympathy
and out of the minor limitations you
only have of those who wait and
when they tell me to stop the tears
I cry become a flood and
then a river drowning out your apathy
and flowing into what is not me
or what I want to be
but out to the never-ending
never-knowing, endless sea...

"The River of Dispair"

(written by Hassan Ali)

At heart am I greatly teased
For these people who do not hear
Me uttering my painful cries
In the River of Dispair
These people have a smile that last
Yet they are bitter at heart
Fot these people do not hear
My cries in the River of Dipair
Am I doomed, or what?
For I used to like them alot
But now my opinion of these people
Has changed due to this reason
For these people do not hear
My cries in the River of Dispair
I know now that these people hate me
And so they want to destroy me
And so they have thrown me back there
In the River of Dispair......
:( *sniff*
